This course is meant for third level advanced art students who are have completed Art 1 and Art 2. Skills learned in Art 1 and Art 2 are incorporated and enhanced through this course. Each student will use their prior knowledge in the previous courses to investigate more thoroughly two-dimensional and three-dimensional projects. Students must show initiative and good work habits in addition to being interested in art.
Culture Project
Students research the artistic practices of a culture of their choosing, and then develop their own version of a work of art from that culture. Students then present their research and project to the class.
Etching
Using a simplified version of etching students will scratch a design into a piece of plexiglass and then use the intaglio method of printing to create prints from their plates.
Fauvism
Students create their own colorful portraits using fauvism as inspiration.
Georgia O'keefe, Charcoal drawings
Students create their own larger scale nature drawing. Making their work so large it goes off the page in 3 locations. Students work with practicing value as they explore working with charcoal.
Book Binding
Students research and develop their own unique style of sketch book. Sketch books will be used for the school year for students weekly drawings.
